Useful Advice for Summer Weddings

When deciding a ceremony time for June, July August and September ceremonies it is important to keep in mind that these months bring sudden pop up late afternoon and evening thunderstorms and showers quite often. These can sometimes leave us as quick as they came or hang around for a while but for the most part they are NOT all day events. The only time we know for sure it will be an all day event is when it is caused a tropical wave, tropical storm, or hurricane etc. and that is a whole different topic.

With all this said it is wise not to plan a ceremony too close to sunset. Because we are on the east coast you will not have a big orange ball drop behind you ever on our ocean side. Though it is a still beautiful time of day it is not worth risking rain too close to darkness. We will be waiting out these pop up storms and if the ceremony were planned to start at 7:30 and the sun sets at 8:30 we just do not have enough time left to wait especially when it comes to photography.

So... June July and August ceremonies need to start no later than 6:30 please. September please plan no later than 6 p.m.

Some exceptions may be considered for very small sand and sea or unique package without photography. Please discuss these with me...

My further recommendations for these months are these: morning weddings are your best bet! The increasing heat is what causes the thunderstorms in the later parts of the day. It's not that it never rains in the morning but is much less likely. It is not unheard of to have a morning wedding and then have an evening reception. A 9, 10 or 11 a.m. ceremony, though can be hot, is less likely to have rain (in June July August and September it is hot all day). I can have most weddings set up by 9 a.m. others by 10.

I do not suggest midday wedding in these months it is too hot!!!!!!!!! And too crowded! In reality all months should take this advice for the rain close to sunset but these are the months that is almost guaranteed that 3-5 days out of the week it could rain sometime during the day. Every once in a while we get a great year and mother nature is kind to us but this does not happen often and of course this brings us other problems in our great state of Florida... we need the rain... as does everyone else just not all at once ;)

Did you know it's good luck for it to rain on your wedding day =0
